Here’s a quick guide to make it happen without any confusion.
Table of Contents
Step 1: Log in to the IDIS Portal
Start by signing into your account on the Illinois State Board of Elections’ online portal, IDIS. You’ll need your login credentials handy.
Step 2: Navigate to Your Committee Details
- In the top left-hand menu, click on File.
- Then, select Open and click on Committee Details.
This will take you to the section where you can manage your PAC’s information.
Step 3: Go to the Actions Menu
Once you’re in the Committee Details section, a new menu bar will appear on the left side. Look for the option labeled Actions and click it.
Step 4: Finalize Your PAC
- In the Actions menu, find and click the option called Finalize.
- You’ll be prompted to answer a few questions.
Important: Before you can finalize, your PAC’s balance must be $0. This means all funds must be dispersed appropriately.
Step 5: Submit Your Final Report
Once everything checks out, submit your Final Report through the Finalize button.
Step 6: Confirm Closure
After submitting, return to the Actions menu and click on View Final Report. This is where you’ll find your finalized report and confirm that your PAC is officially closed.
Pro Tip: Always double-check your PAC’s finances before finalizing. The State Board of Elections won’t close your committee unless all funds are properly accounted for and dispersed.
Done and done! You’ve officially closed your Political Action Committee— on and upward!
